Hope for Ductus

Ductus is a little pup that was born with a serious heart condition. He needed heart surgery to be able to live, but here in Norway it was no surgeon that could help and the one from England that could, couldn't come cause of Covid restrictions. So we tried abroad in Sweden and there an amazing vet surgeon and a human surgeon, with the help of a german vet professor surgeon as online support, and a wonderful team of vets and nurses, they performed a miracle and saved Ductus' life. Less than 48 hours after the operation Ductus was running happily around playing with his favorite toy. His heart will never be normal or work as well as a healthy heart, but it's working amazingly well now.

As time went by it became clear there was something more that was not as it should be with Ductus. He had problems gaining weight and vomited a little more than what's normal, and he had days he was tired and low. His heart was doing well, so we didn't think that was the problem. After many tests and biopsies Ductus was diagnosed with Ductal Plate Malformation and some other things. This is so very rare and the vet specialists had never heard of or seen it before. So here we are, trying to find out how to help Ductus to live the life he loves so much, cause he's really the happiest little pup. He lives a life full of fun, love, and adventures, but it can be better if we only could find out more about DPM and how to treat what it does to Ductus.

We travel where ever it should be to get the very best help for Ductus, we go to the very best vets and we will do everything to give him a life with good happy days.

Vet bills, medication, and travel costs...so far I managed to hold it up and cover the costs, he's also insured. But the insurance only covers so much each year and we maxed it out already his first ear and now it's almost maxed again. Ductus is my responsibility and I will go all the way for him and I find it difficult to ask for help with this. I don't want anyone to feel they must give and please only give if your financial situation allows you to do so and it will not cause you worries.

I will set up a fund for Ductus, so he can get the help he needs for the cost it takes. He will need advanced medical care for the rest of his life. If we're really lucky we'll get in so much that we can create a Ductus fund. Then we can donate to research and veterinarians to help animals. There are veterinarians out there that are eager to learn more and to go the extra mile to find more cures and treatments for animals. I want to support veterinarians like this for a better future for our furbabies. Hope is that every day vets around the world will be able to help more animals overcome health challenges, even the ones with a rare diagnoses. We are forever grateful for all the amazing help Ductus gets from caring vets, and we would love to help vets give animals more advanced and special medical help. As long as Ductus has more good days than not so good, and as long as he is happy and playful...that's how long I will fight for and with him.
