My name is Dilruba Begum , and I have spent my life caring for others. Today, I am humbly asking for your help as I face the greatest battle of my life.
I moved from Bangladesh to the UK on a Health and Care Worker visa to build a future and support my family. However, my life changed overnight when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma—an aggressive form of breast cancer.
My journey so far has been grueling. I have undergone a major mastectomy on my left side and had my lymph nodes removed. I am currently navigating the physical and emotional toll of chemotherapy, endless hospital stays, and the constant uncertainty that comes with an advanced diagnosis.
A Family in Crisis
While I fight for my life here in the UK, my heart is breaking for my family back in Bangladesh. I am the only sister to two brothers and a daughter to a mother who all need me.
My eldest brother has survived two heart attacks.
My other brother recently suffered a brain stroke.
Most devastatingly, my mother suffered a heart attack upon hearing the news of my cancer diagnosis.
Because they are all unwell, my brothers are unable to work. My sisters-in-law, my niece, and my nephew are struggling to survive. As a low-middle-class family, we have no safety net. I came here to be their strength and their provider, but now, I am unable to work properly, and I cannot even afford my own rent, let alone my mother’s life-saving medications or my family's basic living expenses.
Why I Need Your Help
Being alone in the UK while my family is thousands of miles away is a heavy burden. The cost of living, rent, and the specific needs of cancer recovery are overwhelming. I want to focus on healing so that I can one day return to being the provider my family needs.
Your contributions will go directly toward:
Covering my rent and essential living costs while I undergo treatment.
Assisting with medical costs for my mother and brothers in Bangladesh.
Providing food and basic necessities for my niece and nephew.
No amount is too small. If you cannot donate, please share my story. Your kindness, your prayers, and your support are the light that keeps me going through these dark days.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with me in this fight.
