The money raised will cover her treatment services and equipment for the next 6 years which are critical as body crows and develops. The problem with her body is that her body grows faster than her muscles allow due to the tightness also called spasticity. It is this tightness in her muscles that hinders her mobility.
Advanced Biomechanical Rehabilitationis known for helping kids with Rachel's type of Cerebral Palsy take their first steps and beyond. Rachel has taken those first steps. But it is a definite journey. The therapists feel very confident in Rachel's walking after the improvements made to her body through this therapy. Essentially, the therapy adds volume to her soft muscles which acts to "inflate" her body to a normal size. This is a gentle, even enjoyable experience for Rachel similar to a massage but it is not at all like a massage. A youtube search would show a better explanation as to what this looks like. It is effective, painless and that what matters the most. But it is very labor intensive that is why many parents hire therapists.
