Hope for Africa's Disabled Children
Donation protected
In Africa, a child with disabilities is considered a curse.
They are treated as outcasts by their caretakers, the communities they live in, and society at large. These children are not given access to education or health services, especially in rural areas. While their siblings go to school and the doctor, these children are often hidden away by thier families in a back room, away from their community and away from the government.
Hope Always is a registered NGO (non-government organization) leading the cause to change this in Uganda. Ronald Sekitoleko founded Hope Always while he was still a second year Social Work student at Bugema University. Inspired by his father, a social worker with World Vision, Ronald started by visiting vulnerable children and their families
in the Nakaseke District, and now it is a registered NGO with the National NGO Board. Their goal is to build a facility to give the educational and health services that have been held from these children and to support the families deemed cursed by their communities for having these children.
Ronald Sekitoleko, the founder of Hope Always, is biking over 1,800 miles across four countries to raise awareness and funding for Africa's disabled children. Sponsor his ride across Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya and keep up with his trip right here!
