On Wednesday night, Troy Knowles was in a serious four-wheeler accident while up in the mountains on a hunting trip. He had stayed back at camp until the last minute, then decided to head out to catch dusk. As he made his way through the woods, the four-wheeler’s steering suddenly locked up, sending him flying. Troy can’t remember much after that, but another camper found him in the middle of the road. With the help of a nearby EMT, it was clear Troy needed urgent medical attention. Before the full extent of his injuries was even known, his condition rapidly declined—his blood pressure dropped, and for a moment, it seemed like he might not make it. He was LifeFlighted to Provo’s Trauma and Emergency Unit, where doctors discovered seven broken ribs, a torn artery to his kidney causing internal bleeding, a facial fracture, and numerous stitches and bruises.

 Troy is the heart of our family’s generational farm, carrying on the work that has been passed down for years. He lives with his mother and is the main person keeping the farm running; fortunately he has incredibly supportive siblings and relatives. With Troy in the hospital and facing a long road to recovery, our family is working together to keep things going and support his healing. The farm is an important part of our lives, and we’re doing our best to manage while Troy recovers.
