Hope & Happy Tummies

HOPE & HAPPY TUMMIES

I will be traveling back to my homeland, South Africa for a few days and I would love nothing more this year than to provide a meal to as many people as we can this season.

It has been a tough year especially in countriesthat were already suffering with high unemployment rates and poverty.

“South Africa's official unemployment rate is north of 30% again, while the expanded definition, which includes discouraged jobseekers, has climbed to more than 43%, data for the third quarter of 2020 showed on Thursday.Nov 12, 2020”
Daily Maverick

This means that roughly every 3rd person you encounter in South Africa is unemployed. With no employment means no food, sometimes no shelter, absolutely no needs of these human beings are met but they are still some of the happiest and most optimistic people you will ever meet. With smiles and joy.

Unfortunately countries like South Africa don’t have the infrastructure to assist with food banks, soup kitchens, shelters and unemployment on the same capacity as First world countries.

The other concern is that not only is unemployment high but as is our orphan rate.

“How many orphaned childrenare there in South Africa? Figures range from 3.4 million to nearly 4 million. The United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef), for instance, has put the number of orphans in South Africa at between 3.7 million and 4 million. But some projections have suggested figures as high as 5.2 million.” Nov 18, 2020

With Children alone and without parents, you can imagine the struggle. Communities help raise these children, often with neighbors, siblings raising each other, fending for themselves. Can you even imagine.

With the help of of this GLOBAL COMMUNITY, please you help me make some tummies sing

If you are willing and able, I ask with a  heartfelt plea that you will consider helping SPREAD HOPE AND HAPPY TUMMIES along with me.

If you are in Johannesburg and would like to help with this quest, please reach out, I would be so grateful. The more we come together, the more we reach, the higher we go, the happier everyone will be and most importantly the full tummies.

Kind regards,
Victoria
