Paying Mental Health Fees For Those Who Can't

Tax deductible
Mental Health challenges come in all shapes and sizes, regardless of one's ability to pay for treatment. Life-saving mental health services should not be a luxury, yet for those underemployed, unemployed, or without adequate health benefits, this is their reality.

For months now, reports of mental health decline show that COVID-19 has created a mental health epidemic that will not go away on its own.  Loneliness alone has caused serious damage to our human fabric and sense of communal wellbeing.

Although it’s hard to measure social isolation and loneliness precisely, there is strong evidence that many adults aged 50 and older are socially isolated or lonely in ways that put their health at risk. Recent studies found that:

1) Social isolation significantly increased a person’s risk of premature death from all causes, a risk that may rival those of smoking, obesity, and physical inactivity.

2) Social isolation was associated with about a 50% percent increased risk of dementia.

3) Poor social relationships (characterized by social isolation or loneliness) were associated with a 29% increased risk of heart disease and a 32% increased risk of stroke.

4) Loneliness was associated with higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide.

5) Loneliness among heart failure patients was associated with a nearly 4 times increased risk of death, 68% increased risk of hospitalization, and 57% increased risk of emergency department visits.

Whatever struggle our clients face, we are their only HOPE. No other nonprofit exists solely to pay for mental health services. Because we care, we dare to HOPE.
