Hoopa Valley Lady Warriors Championship Ring

Donation protected
Hello, My Name is Coach Valentine, Assistant Coach of our High School softball team. The coaching staff are looking to help recognize and commemorate our record setting softball season, being the all time North Coast Section Champions in our area, we want to raise money to provide them with championship rings which has never been done for our female athletic teams. Our entire teams is young Native American women, we are a very small community based on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, our girls are a huge part of positivity in our community. The girls are culturally involved in ceremonies and constantly volunteer to help our youth, putting on softball camps for young girls and giving up weekends to run fundraisers that benefit other youth functions. It has been a pleasure teaching young women how to lead and work hard to accomplish success. Our Lady Warriors work hard! There are days after a heavy rain, girls are pushing water out of the low areas so they can still practice, after rain dries it turns our entire dirt infield into a hard cement like surface, on those days the girls would use the first hour to hour and a half of practice in a line breaking up the field with their metal cleats, shuffling back and forth the entire infield, clouds of dirt would fill the air and stick to their sweat covered bodies and soaked clothes. When the dust settles you see a group of dirt covered, ruffled hair young women with now the whitest pearly smiles knowing that their field was good enough to play ball! They are constantly knocking down mole mounds in the outfield or filling collapsed portions of the outfield from the moles with 5 gallon bucket’s of sand, still with smiles on their face because they know when it’s all done they get to play a game they love. Though to some it seems like a lot of work, just to continue to work and get better, it is also a time for them to be free! And express themselves… the crack of the bat, the slap of the mitts, the sweet swoosh of the slide, as they yell the cadence of the count and outs is the rhythm of the game they play, they play an imaginary game as they practice for their next opponent! The high-fiving and laughter when a great play is made against the ghost runner who always has the upper hand! But most of all the support they practice giving each other when mistakes or mishaps happen in the ghost game, all of the hard work translated to their game’s and season making them Champions! Please help us with anything you can donate even if it is only thoughts and prayers ! Whatever we can do as a society to let our young indigenous women know that we are proud of them and in years to come they can look back on this foundational time in their lives. Absolutely all proceeds will go to the girls of today and tomorrow, Thank you!
