Hoop Hero COVID-19 Medical Worker Support

HOOP HERO’s founders, Devan and Ethan, have committed themselves to helping the community and supporting our real “heroes” in the fight against, Covid-19, medical workers. They are partnering with Tern Bicycles to produce Aerosol boxes to protect medical workers from getting contaminated.
The Aerosol box covers the patient’s head, while the doctors intubate the patient for a ventilator. This process poses the most risk for medical workers to be exposed to the virus since they are closest to the patient’s airways and cough droplets (aerosol spray).
Taiwan doctor Dr. Lai Hsien-Yung invented a simple and effective box to shield doctors from the aerosol spray during intubation. The Aerosol box is easy to sterilize and reuse – which is especially important when many hospitals are lacking adequate protective equipment for medical staff.

Dr. Lai open sourced the design and Terry Cussen of Colorado, U.S.A. modified the design for ergonomics and stackability. This will help protect the courageous doctors and nurses that are battling Covid-19 every day.
HOOP HERO is working with Tern Bicycles to support hospitals in the United States and other countries in need of this critical protective equipment. The money from the HOOP HERO’s Gofundme page will go into making the Aerosol boxes and shipping costs to hospitals in need.
With your help, Devan and Ethan hope to be able to fund at least 10 Aerosol boxes and pay for shipping costs to ship to hospital emergency rooms in the United States that are in dire need of these protective Aerosol boxes. Since the hospitals need this equipment right away, they are hoping to fulfill the orders as soon as possible. Hospitals such as New York Presbyterian Queens, Duke Regional Hospital and Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in New York City have all made requests for the Aerosol boxes.
Time matters and since the sooner we can get the funds to send this equipment out to the medical workers, the sooner they will be protected!
HOOP HERO hopes to raise money with one-of-a-kind merchandise. As an incentive to help children in need, HOOP HERO will thank donors who contribute more than US$150 (or NT$4,500) with a limited edition, glow-in-the-dark-basketball that was designed in collaboration with NBA All-Star STEPHON MARBURY.
HOOP HERO will thank donors who contribute over US$20 (or NT$600) with a limited edition wrist band that will help raise awareness for this movement.
