Time to run home…
Wait, what? That’s 500 miles!
Let’s do it.
So, long story short, lockdown has been a bit pants. From the pubs closing to supermarkets becoming a big day out, we have all felt this affect us in some way or other.
Christmas was a little different this year for everyone, and we found ourselves spending it together 500 miles from our home and families, but creating a new friendship along the way.
Both full-time serving military nurses working within various environments in Derriford hospital and across the UK, we have seen the pandemic from the early days and decided to try and create a positive out of all this negativity!
Almost a year since we have managed to cross the glorious Scottish border, we decided to take matters into our own hands and make home feel a wee bit closer.
Two Scottish nutters hoofin’ it all the way home – 500 miles to run within 3 months starting April 1st – June 30th. Proclaimers, eat your heart out!
We aren’t doing all this for the blisters and the joint ache – we’ve decided between us of a very deserving charity based in Plymouth, who have provided incredible support not only during the pandemic but throughout the years and I’m sure many of you are familiar with – St Lukes Hospice!
Last year St Lukes cared for over 1,764 people in the local community living with a life-limiting illness. This involves care from Doctors, Nurses, Social workers and Occupational Therapists to patients and family members. This can happen in Derriford Hospital or out in the community, so patients can be in the comfort of their own home.
Listen up guys – they need to raise a whopping £7.8 million a year to continue to run their services!
We’re sure many of you know just how important and crucial the work they do is, so let’s show them a little support!
So, get rooting round for those loose coins!
Shoogle that piggy bank, get down the back of that sofa and help two Scottish lassies feel a little bit closer to home, will ya?
