1000 Miles for Joey!

We have 24 Hours, Can You Help?

On behalf of Investigator Ben Price, I come to you asking for your help.

April 9th....Today is a Day we will never forget, I lost my fiance',  a family lost their son and brother, a department lost a Deputy, and a community lost a Hero.  This date will forever be ingrained in our minds.  It was tragic but that day, Joey made a difference and his actions helped save countless lives and rid of beloved county of a murderer.  Today I ask you to help honor Joey by donating to Law Enforcement United.  We need $1500.00 in 24 hours.  You will notice the goal is $1680.00, this number has been chosen to Honor Joey's call number (168).  Your donation will go directly to Law Enforcement United and not to any personal accounts.  Keep reading to find out how your donation helps.....

Investigator Ben Price of the Florence County Sheriff's Office has pedaled his bike thousands of miles (over 10,000 to be exact) to honor Deputy Joseph (Joey) C. Rodgers.  Every year before National Police Week, hundreds of Law Enforcement Officers embark on a grueling ride to bring awareness to Line of Duty deaths.  This ride also helps raise funds for Concerns of Police Survivors , Officer Down Memorial Page, and Spirit of Blue Foundation.

Law Enforcement United is a 501(c)3

A few years ago, I had the honor of following these officers and documenting their journey.  The dedication is beyond amazing, word's can't begin to describe. They endure days of blazing temperatures, pounding rain, wind, the steep hills of Virginia, and unforgiving sun of South Carolina.  Then they stop and rest only to wake up and do it again.  They pedal every day an estimated 100 Miles, until they reach their destination...Washington D.C. (National Police Week).  Along their journey, they have assistance from Support Teams of Medical and Maintenance (for Bike Issues).  Every evening, they will stop in a new city to rest.  These few hours are spent hydrating, tending to sore muscles, checking in with loved ones, ride updates, and preparing their bikes to head out again.

Each officer wears a Memorial Bracelet during the entire ride.  Once they reach Washington DC, they will pull in the their final destination, and be met with the cheers and "thank you's" of families effected by line of duty deaths.  They will then take the bracelet off and give it to the Family.

These Officers make this trip every year because they are making such a difference in the lives of those effected by line of duty deaths.  The money raised has funded C.O.P.S Kids Camps to give children of fallen officers a place to grieve and be with other children effected by Line of Duty deaths.  It allows them a week, at no cost to the family, where they have fun, while also while also healing.

Please consider making a donation to help Ben make his Journey to Honor Joey.  Your donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
