Help Us Honor My Mother’s Life and Give Her the Farewell She Deserves
A Daughter’s Heartbreaking Journey Through Love, Loss, and Hope
I never imagined I would be writing this not this soon, and not under these circumstances.
For three long years, my mother fought an uphill battle against stage 4 cancer. She was a fighter in every sense of the word. Even when the odds were stacked against her, she faced each day with strength, dignity, and an unwavering will to keep going. But this year, that battle reached its most devastating chapter and it has left me, my family, and my unborn child facing a loss so deep I still struggle to find the words.

This is my attempt to tell you her story and to humbly ask for your help in giving her the farewell she deserves.

The First Diagnosis
Three years ago, our lives changed forever when my mother was told she had stage 4 cancer. That diagnosis hit like a thunderclap in the middle of a quiet afternoon sudden, shocking, and impossible to ignore. We were told the cancer was advanced and that treatment would be difficult. But we didn’t give up. My mom didn’t give up. She wanted more time more birthdays, more family dinners, more moments to simply be here with us.

Through chemotherapy, radiation, and countless hospital visits, she fought bravely. She dealt with pain most people could never imagine, yet she kept a smile for us. She stayed strong, even when her body was weak.

When Things Got Worse
As if cancer itself wasn’t cruel enough, new challenges began to appear. A tumor developed in her brain. At first, we hoped it was something doctors could address, but over time, it became clear the complications were mounting.

Her health began to decline rapidly. Infections came often and stole more of her strength each time. Walking became harder. Then impossible. The cancer spread aggressively throughout her body, and the illness began stealing away the little things the ability to enjoy food, the ability to drink water, even her memory.

The strokes came next not one, but multiple, damaging both the left and right sides of her brain. She was no longer able to walk at all. Each visit to the hospital was longer, and each time, she came home weaker.

Facing the Inevitable
Eventually, the doctors had to tell us the words no family ever wants to hear: “There’s nothing more we can do.” They estimated she had about three months to live. That news was crushing.

But the truth is… we didn’t even get those three months.

Her condition worsened faster than anyone expected. She was placed on hospice care, and I stayed by her side as much as I could. I watched as her body slowly shut down, as her breathing changed, as the warmth left her hands.

All the while, I carried my own baby inside me.

The Pain of Two Realities
It’s hard to describe what it feels like to carry new life while watching the woman who gave you life fade away. There’s no preparing for that kind of emotional split joy and heartbreak colliding inside you every day. I wanted my mom to meet her grandchild. I wanted her to hold them, to tell them stories, to be the same loving grandmother she had always dreamed of being.

Instead, I found myself praying for her comfort while also whispering to my unborn child that they would one day know all about their incredible grandmother.

Her passing left a hole that nothing can fill. She wasn’t just my mother she was my best friend, my protector, my role model, and the person who could always make me feel safe no matter how old I got.

Why I’m Asking for Help
In the middle of grief, reality doesn’t pause. The bills don’t stop. The arrangements have to be made.

Funerals are expensive far more than I could have imagined. Between the funeral service, burial, medical bills, and hospice costs, the financial weight is overwhelming. And with my pregnancy, my ability to work and cover these costs alone is even more limited.

That’s why I’m reaching out. I want to give my mother the dignified farewell she deserves one that reflects the love and kindness she gave so freely to everyone around her.

How Your Support Will Help
Every single donation will go directly toward:

Funeral & Burial Expenses Covering the cost of the service, casket, burial plot, and all associated arrangements.

Medical & Hospice Bills Taking care of outstanding expenses from her treatments and end-of-life care.

Family Support Helping me provide for my baby during this difficult time so I can focus on healing and honoring my mom’s memory.

About My Mom
If you knew my mom, you knew what it meant to be loved without condition. She was the kind of woman who would help a neighbor in need without being asked. She gave her last dollar to someone struggling, cooked extra meals to share with friends, and always opened her door to those who needed comfort.

She had a laugh that could fill a room and a heart big enough to carry everyone’s burdens. She deserved so much more time than she got.

What You Can Do
I know times are hard for many people. I understand that not everyone can give. But if you can, please consider making a donation in any amount every dollar truly makes a difference.

If you can’t donate right now, you can still help by sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Your share could be the reason someone else sees this and decides to give.

In Closing
My mother taught me to never be afraid to ask for help when it’s needed and right now, I need help more than ever. This campaign isn’t just about covering expenses; it’s about honoring a life well-lived, a love deeply felt, and a woman whose presence made the world better.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us in this time of grief. Your kindness means more than I can express.

With love and gratitude,
Smith
