<div>It is with deep sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of Muhip Goktepe’s passing. Many knew Muhip through his ties to the Tarpon Springs community as he was a local fixture at the Sponge Docks for over 40 years. Muhip was unapologetically himself and never waived to meet anyone else’s expectations. Beneath his firm exterior was a man filled with kindness and love, especially for his children, grandchildren, and wife Maria.

<div>In Muhip’s final days, he was surrounded by a tremendous amount of love and support from family, friends, and an amazing team of nurses and doctors in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit who worked diligently to provide him with the highest level of care and comfort. Although the best effort was not enough to keep him with us, we are grateful for the time we were given.

<li>Home repairs – Maria and Muhip had extensive damage to their home after Hurricane Milton where they lost many of their personal belongings and had to replace nearly the entirety of the interior of their home (furniture, sheetrock, flooring, appliances, cabinets, etc.). Muhip worked tirelessly to complete many of the repairs himself but had not completed all the repairs at the time of his passing.

<li>Boat repairs – In addition to working on home repairs, Muhip was also working to prepare his boat for sponge diving this year.

<div>Maria is now left facing not only an unimaginable loss, but the financial hardship of funeral expenses, medical expenses, completing home repairs, and completing the boat Muhip had been working on. The boat represents more than just work or an expense, it is part of Muhip’s legacy and finishing it would help Maria preserve a piece of the life they have built together.
