Honoring Matthew Russell (Giblin)

It is with the deepest sadness that we share the passing of our loved one, Matthew Russell (Giblin). He passed away unexpectedly this morning. Anyone who knew Matt knew he had a great sense of humor and an even better laugh. The most beautiful sparkling blue eyes and a vibrant smile to match….We were often reminded from a very early age how handsome he was…. And he never let us forget it. Also from a young age Matt had a love for animals and often brought home any he could find to rescue and nurse back to health. After sneaking them in and begging my mom they usually got a warm bed and food for a few weeks before being released back into the wild with a new name and bill of health. His personal favorites were pocket sized dogs he proudly toted in a carrier (purse) everywhere he went. Matt, Daisy, and Gizmo (who greeted him at the Rainbow Bridge this morning) were a packaged deal.

Matt was the first born and as he would say… the favorite. He showed us all how to be strong, brave, kind to living creatures, silly…. and patient. He was intelligent and hard working. Always eager to learn and grow. He was passionate about history always sharing fascinating stories that captivated him with others. He had many interests and was always trying to expand his skills.

He had a way of just showing up right as a home cooked meal was ready and always expressed how great the cook was after his second helping. He would protected his family at all costs. He was a loving dad, son, brother, uncle and friend. His personality and light could fill any room.

At a young age, he brought immense joy to our lives and leaves behind a precious daughter, a mother, siblings, nephews and a niece.

In this difficult time, our family faces unexpected expenses as we wish to lay him to rest with the dignity he deserves. Unfortunately, we did not have life insurance to help cover these costs.
