Malika Phillips passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on December 23rd. She had open-heart surgery a few months back and had unexpected complications. We thought she was recovering and on the mend, and tragically, this happened.

Malika was an exceptional woman and always looked out for her friends and family. Knowing her was to love her, the way of always telling you the “truth” about you and your situations but always showing you the love she had for you in her heart. Basically, she was blunt. She had been through the most, losing her daughter 2 years ago in February, and took on a parent's role of raising her 4-year-old grandson, Chunchie. Now, he is left to be raised by family. Her mother, Barbara Brooks, is needing some financial assistance in paying for funeral expenses, and anything would be very helpful and appreciated in this time of need so we can give her a proper burial.
