Honoring Kathy’s Legacy: Supporting Her Son’s Long-Term Care
Donation protected
Our dear friend Kathy was a warrior for others—someone who spent her life giving, caring, and fighting for those in need. This week, we lost Kathy unexpectedly, and her passing has left a deep void in the lives of all who knew and loved her. But the greatest impact is on her disabled son, who relied on her for everything.
Kathy’s daughter, Christy, is now facing the enormous responsibility of caring for her brother, ensuring he has the long-term care and support he needs. While she steps up to honor her mother’s legacy, the financial burden is overwhelming.
Who Kathy Was
Kathy was the kind of person who never turned away from someone in need. If she had it, she gave it. If she didn’t, she found a way to get it for you. After working over 30 years at the phone company, she dedicated the last two decades of her life to fighting for others through her work at the Communications Workers of America (CWA). She helped hundreds of union members secure medical benefits, navigate insurance denials, and fight for their jobs when illness or injury threatened their livelihoods. She also cared for her own disabled brother, Sid, until his passing.
Her life was about service, love, and generosity. She was kind, selfless, and full of life. Kathy loved her family fiercely, her friends wholeheartedly, and the Georgia Bulldawgs unconditionally.
How You Can Help
Now, her family needs us. Christy is facing the challenge of balancing her own family’s needs while ensuring her brother receives the specialized care he requires. The costs of his long-term care, medical expenses, and daily support are significant.
We are asking for your help to ease this burden and honor Kathy’s lifelong mission of helping others. Any amount—big or small—will go directly to Christy to support her brother’s care and ensure that he is surrounded by the love and stability that Kathy would have wanted for him.
If you knew Kathy, you knew she would be the first to step up if this were someone else’s family. Let’s come together to show her family the same love and generosity she showed so many of us.
Please consider donating, sharing this page, and keeping Kathy’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us keep Kathy’s beautiful spirit alive.
