Honoring Joanna: A Mother's Final Journey

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Takeya Walker. I’m starting a fundraiser to bring my beautiful mother Joanna Hogan home and lay her to rest. My mother battled sickle cell anemia for whole life, she was indeed a warrior. My mother was born with the life expectancy of 30 years, my mother fought until she was 51 and she put up one hell of a fight. Through countless surgeries, infections and hospitalizations. My mother still managed to be the be an active parent, she was our Girl Scout troop leader and organized a girls club for the girls in our neighborhood. My mother was a lot of things to a lot of people a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a sister, a friend, a caregiver. She opened her home to whoever was in need. Now I’m asking for her if anyone can open their hearts to her and help us lay her to rest. My mother is leaving behind 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren and we just want to make her celebration of life as special as she made us all feel. Her battle ended December 2nd, 2024.
