Honoring Joann Truman's Memory

My mother is described by her friends and family as kind, generous, fun, adventurous, a great listener, wise and of course an amazing baker and confectioner connaisseur. I echo all of those sentiments and more, I would not be who I am today without her, and if I am like her even a little that provides me with some comfort and solace.
My mother has left her mark and I know many of you feel a void in your soul as I do. I appreciate all of your kind words and prayers. Please feel free to reach out, all of your stories and memories of my mom help me to embrace the void and pain I feel in my chest.
In honor of my mother and in lieu of flowers and a burial plot, which she did not want. I have decided to memorialize her with an engraved bench and a tree in Oakland Lake - Alley Pond Park. My mom and I have been to this park numerous times over the years and we have always found great joy in watching the swans swim and protect their nest, discovering birds in the trees, finding little turtle heads in the water and other wildlife discoveries. I can honestly think of no better place to honor her memory, and am grateful for the chance to contribute to the beautification and maintenance of this park.
The money raised will go directly towards the City of New York Parks and Recreation department who will plant a tree and provide personalized engraved plaques for both the tree and a park bench. The parks department will also maintain them and make repairs as necessary. This process will take a few months and I will provide info on their exact location in the park at that time.
