Jesse Kyd Prefontaine

May 20th, 1976 - July 12th, 2025

Due to the unexpected passing of my cousin, Jesse Kyd Prefontaine, we are raising funds for his cremation and celebration of life. He passed at just 49 years young, and we're all still struggling to come to terms with it. It just doesn't feel real. And as of right now, we don't have a lot of answers.

Jesse was a kind, adventurous soul. Always willing to help—especially if you didn't think you needed help. He laughed loudly and loved fiercely. He was generous to a fault and stubborn as the Taurus he was, but was always a big Kyd at heart. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, his uncle and aunt, many cousins, his long-time love, and many beloved family and friends.

(And for those that keep asking, yes, he was related to Steve Prefontaine, the Olympic runner from U of O; they were cousins by blood on his dad's side.)

His uncle Kenny, Aunt Gabby, and I are going to be planning his arrangements, along with some close friends and loved ones. Due to how he was found, we are having him cremated once we raise enough funds. They estimated anywhere from $800 to $2,100 for the cremation and filing fees alone. Anything extra we will be using for his celebration of life, which will happen in a few months, so that way any family and friends that live elsewhere can plan accordingly.
