Hi, my name is Jordyn Dixon, and I’m 18 years old. I’m a first-generation college student at North Carolina A&T State University, and I’m reaching out to ask for help as I pursue my dream of completing my undergraduate degree.
In September 2024, I lost my mother, Gina Jones, to stage 4 breast cancer. It was a heartbreaking loss that has left a hole in my heart, but it’s also made me more determined than ever to keep moving forward. My mom was everything to me—my biggest supporter, my inspiration, and the person who always believed in me, even when I struggled to believe in myself.
When I graduated high school, it was the happiest moment of our lives, and she told me over and over how proud she was that I wanted to attend college and further expand my education. She put her own problems with battling cancer to the side to aid and guide me on the next chapter of my life. My mother showed me selflessness when she had every right not to. She had dreams for me that she could no longer fulfill for herself, and I promised her that I would see it through.
But now, after losing her, I’m facing an obstacle that feels insurmountable—finances. As a first-generation student, I’m navigating this college journey alone in so many ways. I’m deeply passionate about my education and the future I’m working towards, but I simply don’t have the financial resources to make it happen.
This isn’t just about earning a degree. It’s about honoring my mom’s memory. It’s about keeping the promises I made to her. Every day, I carry her love and hopes for me as I strive to achieve this goal.
I am humbly asking for any help to support my education so I can keep moving forward and fulfill the dream my mom had for me. No donation is too small, and every contribution will bring me one step closer to finishing my degree and making my mom proud.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me in this incredibly difficult, but important journey. Your generosity means the world to me, and I will honor my mom’s legacy by giving my all to my education.
With love and gratitude,
Jordyn Arianna Dixon
