Hi, my name is Nelson, and my family and I are raising funds to honor the life and legacy of our beloved mother, Dr. Benedeth Nwumeh, who passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was diagnosed in April 2023 and fought with strength, grace, and unwavering faith until the very end.

Our mom was a loving mother, wife, doctor, and philanthropist whose kindness reached far beyond our immediate family. Born and raised in Nigeria, she came to the United States in 1999 with nothing but determination and a dream to build a better life for her loved ones. She started her journey as a nurse, working long night shifts for more than 10 years while continuing her education and caring for five children. Through sheer resilience and hard work, she earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Psychiatry and went on to touch countless lives through her profession. Her patients adored her—many wrote her heartfelt letters describing how she helped them transform their lives.

Mom was the kind of woman who never met a stranger. She carried a warm smile everywhere she went and made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Whether at work, at church, or in the community, she was a pillar of strength, generosity, and encouragement. She inspired everyone around her to live better—spiritually, emotionally, physically, and academically. She supported many extended family members in pursuing their education and launching their businesses. Every week, she led virtual Bible studies for nieces and nephews abroad, always giving more of herself than she ever asked for in return.

She leaves behind her loving husband, five children, and three grandchildren who adored her. Her passing has left an immeasurable void in our hearts and in the many communities she faithfully served.

As we navigate this time of intense grief, we are also faced with the financial burden of funeral and burial expenses, medical bills, and estate costs associated with her passing. We are hoping to raise $20,000 to help cover these needs and give her the beautiful, honorable burial she so greatly deserves.
