Manuel deJesús Leyton Palacios , died at 40 known as Chuga to friends and family, was a true legend in our lives. He was the first in our family to come to the USA, and he worked tirelessly to support not just us, his children, but also his six siblings and his mother back in Nicaragua. Chuga was the kind of person who would step in to resolve family conflicts, always putting others before himself. He was joyful, outgoing, and a risk-taker, with a positive attitude even in the toughest times. His friends and family knew they could always count on him for help, and he built a reputation as someone who cared deeply for everyone around him.

 My brother Hayson and I grew up with our dad after he brought us to the United States for a better life. He was strict at times, but it was always out of love and a desire to see us succeed. He taught us the value of hard work and the importance of learning a trade—Hayson does electrical work, and I do carpentry, both skills we learned because of his encouragement. Our dad ran two companies as a handyman, and he always wanted to leave something meaningful for us. He believed in having good manners, not being shy, and knowing how to talk to people. One of his favorite lessons was that life can be rough, but if you keep trying, you can accomplish anything. Just a year ago, he told us, "I don’t care when God takes me now—I’m proud of you guys and know you’ll be fine. God gave me the time to show you how to be adults."

 We are raising funds to cover funeral costs and to send our dad’s body back to Nicaragua, where he was born and where so many people loved him. Any support, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser, means the world to us. We want to honor Chuga’s memory and give him the farewell he deserves, surrounded by the family and friends whose lives he touched so deeply.       Manuel dejesus leyton palacios, que murió a los 40 años, conocido como Chuga para amigos y familiares, fue una verdadera leyenda en nuestras vidas. Fue el primero de nuestra familia en venir a los Estados Unidos, y trabajó incansablemente para mantenernos no solo a nosotros, a sus hijos, sino también a sus seis hermanos y a su madre en Nicaragua. Chuga era el tipo de persona que intervenía para resolver conflictos familiares, siempre poniendo a los demás antes que a sí mismo. Era alegre, extrovertido y arriesgado, con una actitud positiva incluso en los momentos más difíciles. Sus amigos y familiares sabían que siempre podían contar con su ayuda, y se construyó la reputación de ser alguien que se preocupaba profundamente por todos a su alrededor.

Mi hermano Hayson y yo crecimos con nuestro padre después de que nos trajera a los Estados Unidos para una vida mejor. A veces era estricto, pero siempre era por amor y deseo de vernos triunfar. Nos enseñó el valor del trabajo duro y la importancia de aprender un oficio: Hayson hace trabajo eléctrico, y yo hago carpintería, ambas habilidades que aprendimos gracias a su aliento. Nuestro padre dirigía dos empresas como manitas, y siempre quería dejarnos algo significativo. Él creía en tener buenos modales, no ser tímido y saber cómo hablar con la gente. Una de sus lecciones favoritas fue que la vida puede ser dura, pero si sigues intentándolo, puedes lograr cualquier cosa. Hace solo un año, nos dijo: "No me importa cuando Dios me lleve ahora, estoy orgulloso de ustedes y sé que estarán bien. Dios me dio el tiempo para mostrarte cómo ser adultos".

Estamos recaudando fondos para cubrir los costos del funeral y para enviar el cuerpo de nuestro padre de vuelta a Nicaragua, donde nació y donde tanta gente lo amaba.
