A girl in Reese's social circle invited him to a co-worker's birthday celebration. 31-year-old Daniel Martez Walker, a career criminal and fugitive, was in attendance at this party. Reese had not met Walker before that evening. Walker shot and killed Reese with a single gunshot wound to the chest. According to police, Reese died instantly. Witnesses confirm the attack was entirely unprovoked. Walker has been charged with second-degree murder. The investigation is ongoing.
