Cappella of Grand Junction Assisted Living Community is seeking funds to send a World War II Navy Veteran and his Guardian to Washington DC to visit the Word War II Memorial.

Ernie is a 91 yr. old WWII Vet who served in the US Navy, from 1944-1946 as a Radarman 3RD Class.  He served overseas at Manila in the Philippines and Shanghai China.  His Guardian is Chuck Gregory, who also served in the US Navy, from 1983-2003.  Chuck’s rank was Utilitiesman Senior Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy Seabees at retirement; completing 7 deployments across the globe.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 640 WWII veterans die each day. Honor Flight Network will continue do whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of our veterans.

Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly      threatened our very existence as a nation—and as a culturally diverse, free society. Our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.

Flights Mission Statement is:
To transport America’s Veterans to Washington, DC  to visit those memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of                themselves and their friends.

Our Goal is to raise $1,500.00 towards this trip, by April 30, 2018. Flight will be scheduled in May.  Any remaining funds will be donated to the Honor Flight Program to help continue this honorable cause.
