Honduran Coffee Community Relief Fund

Donation protected

It was only two months ago that both Hurricanes, Eta and Iota hit back-to-back and devastated parts of Honduras. The immediate internal and external relief efforts have been inspiring. Much of this early relief has focused on food, medicine, clothing, and urgent repairs to infrastructure. Now the mid to longer-term relief efforts need to begin. Communities want to rebuild their lives, their homes, and their livelihoods.

ICT will be raising money for San Jose de Oriente's devastated community in the District of Santa Barbara. San Jose de Oriente is one of the principal communities and suppliers of coffee to our origin partners San Vicente and one of the communities that was hit the hardest. Multiple landslides in and around the community resulted in the total loss of 44 homes, rendered community roads impassable, and wipe out 50-60% of the coffee plantation. 184 family members remain in shelters while they begin the rebuilding process. The first priority is the roads, then the coffee harvest, and as soon as they can, a rebuilding program for their homes.

San Vicente is working directly with San Jose de Oriente to organize, plan and rebuild. Upon ICT's request, we now have the community's initial plan and budget. Their estimated costs to rebuild their homes, rebuild the lost road systems and rebuild their coffee farms is around US$ 600,000. For the next month, ICT is committing to US$ 1 for every bag of coffee that ICT delivers.
We urge others from the coffee community to join us in this effort. Our goal is to raise at least US$ 50,000.

The San Jose de Oriente coffee community needs us and with your help, all monies raised will be allocated to specific projects. ICT believes in long-lasting relationships from the producer to our customers. When one side of this relationship is hit by disaster it creates a huge impact along the business line. We want to do our part in helping this community return to some kind of normalcy, to feel safe and at home again, and to continue its generational coffee-producing legacy. We are grateful to anyone that can help us help the San Jose de Oriente coffee community.

**All monies raised will be allocated to specific projects. There will be a signed contract between ICT/San Vicente and San Jose de Oriente specifying how the funds will be used. There will also be a mid-term and final report of the projects and monies spent**
