Hometown hero loses house in fire

We love him so much so, that his military banner has been on our roof for 3 years now.

I remember him feeling bad when he called me to ask me for a ride to the airport for his deployment in 2013. 

He is our humble hometown hero.

His house caught fire early this morning. Luckily, he had fallen asleep on the couch downstairs and his Rottweiler woke him up to escape in time.

He had spent the last few years working on fixing the house up, being one of the oldest houses in our town. It looked beautiful and he was almost finished.

He lost pretty much everything. I have his remaining clothes in the trunk of my car to take home to wash, and we found his wallet, that’s about it.
