Homestead Field Renovation

Rainbow Soccer has been serving the community in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and surrounding areas for the past 50 years, but now they need the community’s help to further their goal of providing soccer in a safe and fun environment to anyone who wants to play, no matter their age, gender, race or economic status.
The Town of Chapel Hill has agreed to install two multi-purpose turf fields (filled with cork rather than crumb rubber, which is safer for your health and a more natural material) at the Homestead Park on Martin Luther King Drive in Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill will be renting the fields back to Rainbow through field credits so every dollar gets back to Rainbow Soccer via the in-kind use of the fields.
This will create additional fields, open to the public for year-round use. The construction phase will start in May 2018 and should finish by the end of the summer.
These fields will be possible only if organizations using the fields can raise the money. Making the transition from grass to turf will cost $1,050,000 and Rainbow has agreed to donate $150,000 toward that cost. As a non-profit, we do not have this amount of money readily available and would greatly appreciate your help in meeting our fundraising goal of $150,000. Any amount helps, no matter how big or small. We hope you will join us in this community improvement campaign!
About Rainbow Soccer:
We are a non-profit organization established in 1972 that has become a leading association for both youth and adult soccer in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and the surrounding areas. Our main goal is to provide soccer in a safe and fun environment to anyone who wants to play, no matter his or her age, gender, race or economic status. We regard our organization to have characteristics of a “rainbow,” considering the diversity of our participants and coaches. Because we accept athletes of all skill levels, we emphasize sportsmanship and fun over competition and scoring to give our players the best possible recreational soccer experience.
