The Homeless World Cup Foundation is preparing for the 2013 Homeless World Cup Tournament in Poznan, Poland. The Foundation supports many grassroots organizations on a year round basis and then also hosts an international football (soccer) tournament in a different city each year where teams from many countries come together to compete on the pitch and share, learn from each other and grow off the pitch. This year 64 countries total will compete in the men's, women's and mixed team categories.
To get a better idea of what this is all about-
"At the annual Homeless World Cup tournament, the national partners come together to demonstrate how football has the power to change people's lives. The tournament also celebrates the year-round work of the organisation and creates an opportunity for players to represent their country and meet and build relationships with homeless people from other countries. It also lights up the hearts and minds of everyone it touches and changes people's attitudes to homelessness "“ in all cities where the tournament is held, people who are homeless report improved relations with the public."
As a volunteer for this year's event, I have committed to raising $1,500 which will go directly to the Homeless World Cup Foundation. Please support me in contributing to this foundation which is working diligently to support organizations that are using sport to tackle social issues and which then gives many individuals the opportunities to participate in such a dynamic and energized global football for change tournament.
