<div>Original, 2023: I am raising money for my lovely friend Daniel who urgently needs help with medical bills and living expenses after he suffered a major financial setback (<a href="https://fox5sandiego.com/news/local-news/teens-car-partially-submerged-by-king-tide-man-helps-tow-to-dry-land/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">news story</a>).

<div>He is a former foster kid who has been living out of a vehicle for the past two years due to a health condition that has made him “allergic to life”. CPS intervened in his teenage years due to a difficult and traumatic home life.

<div>“It feels like every cell in my body is screaming in pain”… Daniel has a severe immune condition called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, which, in response to environmental triggers, causes bouts of debilitating fatigue, swelling, respiratory issues, and excruciating nerve pain, which often disable him. His condition causes severe food allergies which limits him to a diet of red meat and a few vegetables.

<div>Mold is a major trigger for his condition.
</div>
<div>His MCAS also causes multiple chemical sensitivity, causing him to react to fragrance in detergents, personal care products, colognes, and building materials. All of this greatly limits his ability to freely move around in the world and find safe housing. He also deals with chronic pain due to injuries related to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS).

<div>Daniel supported himself while homeless for two years doing delivery jobs and pet sitting when able, but is no longer able to work. Medicine has helped Daniel make some modest progress with his health, but his condition is still disabling.

<div>He has been a kind and sensitive soul from a young age, despite a difficult childhood which included 7 years in foster care. He has a special place in his heart for animals and has always stood up for the underdog, empathizing with those who were bullied or otherwise mistreated or disadvantaged. In second grade, he raised $180 for the tsunami relief effort in Thailand by shoveling snow, and keeps gloves and hats in his car to give to the homeless during the winter.

<div>Daniel loves spending time in nature, writing music, and has a passion for self-improvement and healthy living. He hopes to have an organic farm someday and make a career of helping people improve their physical health and heal from emotional trauma. But right now, he needs help.
