Homeless in Delco

Eleanor Gehret and her daughter Jennifer are homeless and need your help. Jennifer has multiple brain tumors and suffered a stroke in October.  As medical bills mounted they fell behind on their rent. Eleanor is a waitress and Jennifer isn't able to work due to her disability. They were kicked out of their apartment in Ridley Township, PA on Nov 30th and have been living outside in the cold weather with their dog and their cat. I drove past them on my way to work on Dec. 3 and asked them how I could help.  A Ridley Township police officer arrived shortly after and spoke with them and took down some information.  They’ve been trying to work with outreach programs but the wait is long and there is a funding crisis thanks to the state budget impasse. They need some help and I know the kindness and generosity of the Delaware County community and beyond can help them! The funds collected will go towards providing temporary shelter and some meals, paying the back rent to get them back into their apartment and it will help with Jennifer’s medical bills.    Any additional money will be used to pay off Jennifer's medical bills. I will manage the money and make payments directly to the apartment leasing company and Dr/Hospitals and also work to put them in touch with people and organizations who can help them long-term.  As we approach the holiday season and get wrapped up in buying presents, decorating and cooking please take a moment to reflect on how you and your family have been blessed and how you can be a blessing right now to someone in need.
