Abused, Mistreated, Homeless Felines

My name is Nanette Redding, I am 74 years old and daily I witness torture and abuse of the stray cats in my area. I see this because I walk 1.5 kilometres to work 5 days a week past many flats and units that are home to these lovely cats. I see the evidence of their abuse on their bodies. I have seen their exposed flesh and burned fur; others have been bashed with hard objects; people have witnessed cars driving past and scooping the cats up in nets - I don't like to think what for.

15 years ago I started feeding 6 stray cats. Now, I feed 100 cats in 14 locations and care for 21 cats at home. I prepare a healthy mixture of raw meat, oats and dry food every day except Sunday. I use to leave my home 2 hours before I start work to feed these strays along my way. Fortunately, people have volunteered to drive me now. I fund the cost of food and care for these cats completely on my own through working part-time – spending over $8500 annually. However, supporting this cause financially by myself is slowly becoming more difficult.

I am glad to say I have re-homed in excess of 100 cats with the help of my good friend Rhonda. They have lovely, safe homes now and this just makes me want to give homes to the ones still on the street.
