Homecare Fund for Bud: Initial Appeal

Our beloved family patriarch Bud suffered a fall on October 24th and has not been 100% since. He was okay enough to celebrate Halloween with family, but symptoms developed that led hospitalization Nov 23. The doctor said the fall created a concussion and a hematoma. Part of a spiral down was an infection, and septic shock on top of it that. The hospital stay meant no one could visit because of Covid, and he had been unresponsive much of the time. The last week of his stay he was able to talk briefly via an iPad with Holly and family – and was active enough to pull out some pretty important tubes.
Last Monday Dec. 15. Bud came home to Holly and Tony’s home. He parked in Kastl boys’ room, and was lucid and so happy to see familiar faces that he was joking and enjoying his amateur caretakers’ company. Even with this good news, however, the doctors said prepare for no likely improvement and perhaps even hospice care. A recent coughing fit didn’t help things, with pressure on the brain increasing disorientation and delusions. Even so, we pray he can be present as much as possible and soon!
Holly agreed to this GoFundMe effort reluctantly – and is very appreciative! She is arranging part-time caretaker services to help with the challenge of the bedridden, as well as massage and other healing arts to make Bud more comfortable. Covering occasional meal deliveries -- and things other than cooking that have gone by the wayside -- will help support the supporters.
For starters, Bud’s extended family sets this appeal with a goal of raising $4000, or $1000 for each of four weeks to start. While we know Holly and family have always been there for their Dad and Boppa, this is a very direct way we can all help those too selfless to ask!
