Home Truths Project

An art and writing project examining the inequality and injustice of housing poverty in the 21st Century.

Initially starting with a series of personal opportunities to raise awareness of the project through art exhibitions and the publication of a Zine, the sales of which will generate further funds.

All funds will either directly fund workshops and opportunities for homeless people/families to tell their stories or act as match funding for an Arts Council funding application.

As the project progress it will tell the real unseen, untold story of housing poverty in the UK in the 21st Century, how families find themselves without affordable accommodation, in the fifth affluent country in the world.

On the 100th anniversary of the 1919 Housing Act (Addison Act)- ‘Homes fit for Heroes’ the project will work with homeless families to explore why in an affluent country, in the 21st century 310,500 families find themselves registering as homeless, 100,000 children living in temporary accommodation, through their eyes we will explore the severe lack of social housing in the UK that has resulted in this outrage.
