On August 25th the Gulf Coast was hit directly by Cat 4 Hurricane Harvey, leaving in its wake destruction from 100mph+ winds, Tornados, Flash Flooding and more. To describe this storm as anything less than the Storm of the Millenia would be an understatement.
While the rebuilding process has just started, so many are still not able to even get into their homes due to the amount of flooding the Houston and surrounding areas suffered.
While my Husband, Daughter and I weathered the storm in Sugar Land, and came out unscathed, so many were not as fortunate. Specifically my Husband's parents.
On Sunday, August 27th due to the tremendous amount of rainfall, parts of the City of Danbury Flash Flooded leaving many to emergency evacuate. Luckily my Mother-in-Law Gina, in tow with Sister-in-Law Adiyln (15 months old), was able to make the snap decision to load up in the car leaving behind any material item and evacuate the rushing water to safety before flood waters inundated their home. Rob Wilson was trapped by flood waters at the Chemical Plant he works at, unable to leave and assist his family with their evacuation.
They are able to stay with family during this rebuilding process and have all life-sustaining needs met, however, the rebuilding of their home will be crushing for them financially as they do not have flood insurance because they do not live in a 'Flood-Zone.' So many have asked how they can help, and what they need, and I felt this was the best way to help at least 1 family in this situation.
The money raised will be used to help rebuild their family home. They have applied for FEMA but that will not make them whole and there is no telling how long it will take for those funds to come in.
Any amount you can donate will help offset the personal loss and cost this family will incur.
