Home Healthcare Needs for Ken

Donation protected
The story on this GoFundMe page begins with "Original Request" below (see bold section heading).

Within two days, the goal of funding the described bathroom renovation, necessitated by health/mobility issues, was achieved.

I SOOOOOOO gratefully deem the need "met".  The generosity of others is overwhelming and humbling.  I cannot begin to express our appreciation adequately.

Ken's health challenges are challenging; they are chronic.   This major need is indeed met.  Still, when people ask how they can help, and I say I'd be delighted for you to pray for answers for Ken, for comfort for Ken, they respond with some version of, "Of course I will; what else can I do?"

Given that medical needs will be on-going, this page is here to enable anyone who wants to offer a prayer and "what else" to do both, if they really wish to.

The healthcare needs Ken will continue to have are considerable.  Beyond this bathroon renovation, we are working out wheelchair rental/purchase options.   Expenses associated with his pulomonary needs - oxygen concentrators and maintence, an IVAP machine and more continue.  Unknown at this time is treatment for his fractured hip.  Surgery is a questionmark for several reasons.

Anyone who is inclined to offer a prayer and "what else" can be assured that any contribution will be split between his medical needs and a charitable cause such as the Arthritis Foundation and Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.

Thank you again and again and again and again for eternity for your generosity and for caring so much.

Original Request
Our son, Ken, was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis when he was four years old.  Now, at 34, his mobility is severely limited by both the disease itself and side effects of his treatments over the years, including steroids for immuno-suppression - rheumatoid arthritis is a dysfunction of the immune system.

The steroid treatments have made his bones very brittle, and he recently learned he has a hip fracture.  He is not able to take a shower as it is in a bathtub, and he cannot step over the side of the bathtub to enter the shower.

We are planning a renovation for a walk-in shower.  So many people have asked how they can help.  Prayers for treatment options that can work for Ken are my first request, but I know some people want to also do something more ... "tangible".  If you are so inclined, contributing to this fund would be a great way to help him.

We are awaiting an estimate for the rennovation, but since our house is over 70 years old, I'm anticipating it could run several thousand dollars.  Anything that might be raised above the actual rennovation cost would be split between the purchase of other medical devices that can help Ken with mobility in and outside of the house and a contribution we would "give back" by way of donation to the Arthritis Foundation.
