Home Health Care For Debra

Donation protected
Hello family, friends and donnors,

My wife Debra was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ) also called Lou Gehrig's disease , in July 2016. It is a specific disease that causes the death of neurons .This results in difficulty speaking, swallowing, and eventually breathing .The average survival from onset to death is two to four years. In the last year, we have been in and out of the hospital five times, with her longest stay of over six weeks. Her  doctors tell us there is nothing else they can do, so we brought her home.
We have two boys, Caleb age15 and Micah age 11. They are so happy to have their mother home and are able to help care for her. Debra is at the stage in the disease where she needs 24 hour around the clock care. She has no capabilities of  moving her arms or legs , only able to blink and speak. The boys and I take care of her when we are not at work or school. Because she is on a breathing machine at all times, she can never be left unattended.
She was a wonderfully active wife and mother before ALS, and we want to make the rest of her life as comfortable as possible. We hope that you will find it in your heart to help us with the cost of in home care during the hours I am at work and the boys are at school.
Our most conservative estimate is $400.00 a week, for eight hours a day, five days a week. We are not able to afford this on top of medication and household bills. We are hoping to raise  enough for one year of care. Thank you for yours prayers and any help that you are able to give.
