I am beyond excited to bring more humor and healing, laughter and joy to Northeast Ohio and the world!

Karen Williams founded HaHA Institute in the late 1980s, shortly after presenting a rudimentary humor and healing workshop at an AIDS conference in Las Vegas where she was also performing comedy. One participant told Karen that his partner had died of AIDS three days earlier and that he thought he would never laugh again. But he did, out loud, at her workshop.
Karen knew she was on to something powerful! So in 1988, she established the International Institute of Humor and Healing Arts aka HaHA Institute, a virtual resource for humor education whose mission is to encourage the fullest and highest activation of human potential for compassion, wisdom and life force through the use of appropriate humor. The vision of HaHA Institute is to spread the word about the healing power of humor!
To lend weight to her humor education work, Karen wrote a personally-designed major in Humor and Healing and earned both bachelor and master degrees from Cleveland State University.
For 30 years, Karen Williams, M.Ed has facilitated humor workshops on the healing power of humor, stress management, self-esteem, communication skills, diversity training, sex education, leadership, and comedy writing at community colleges, universities, hospitals, nonprofit organizations, women's health agencies, HIV/AIDS symposia, recovery events, pride and LGBTQ affairs, and diversity conferences.
"Now, I am ready to bring HaHA Institute home! I want to continue to share the healing power of humor with the world AND within my local community. I plan to invite every day people, scientists, social workers, sages and scholars to a warm, inviting place where we can engage in dynamic dialogue and raucous laughter to help heal this planet and its peoples NOW!!!"
Please join me in my campaign to fund the new home for HaHA Institute on the North Coast in northeast Ohio, so I can continue to share joy and laughter on a daily basis with those near and afar. I want to invite you to the opening of HaHA Institute, the place we create together as a community to get and keep our laugh on! Let the healing begin!
Your donations will provide funds for space rental and utilities, office and conference room furnishings, marketing and promotions along with internship programs for youth interested in public speaking.
All donations are greatly appreciated and all donors will be acknowledged on a calligraphic banner at the new HaHA Institute home!
