UPDATE (11/9/23):

Dear friends, you were amazing to help us raise $2000 back in August. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We would not have made it without you.

We are in a very rocky situation again. I currently have $328.74 in my bank account.

We have had two rental situations fall through - one in September (we were approved and went in a week before moving date to find that they had given it to another person without our knowledge); the second in October (roommate signed a rent agreement under their income which was greater than mine, and then reneged on the contract a week later; we only lived in that house for 2 weeks). We were protected from another abusive situation, but we are living in a hotel once again. We've lost money due to deposits, etc.

Some other challenges we've faced since being in Midland ... I have been constantly ill (2 weeks of laryngitis, COVID positive with 3 weeks of constant coughing after with no relief, sinus infections, and now daughter and I are positive for flu A). Our stress levels are really high and can't seem to get well.

In addition, we are facing family court (custody modification) against our abuser, and it is VITAL that I show a stable living situation. The date for that hearing is set for Friday, December 15th at 9:00am with a final hearing in February, and I do not yet have an attorney. My daughter, now 18, will be testifying against him for the first time (pray for protection over her and her baby). My daughter also be testifying in a criminal hearing in the next few months against one of her attackers.

Here is a list of our current needs in order of importance:

  • HOTEL - for one more week due tomorrow Friday morning before checkout at 11:00am = $671.60 (we have enough for 1 more night of hotel)
  • ATTORNEY CONSULT - I am meeting with attorney at 1:00pm tomorrow Friday who requires a $300 consult fee. ((Update: I was unable to meet with him today due to lack of funds)).
  • APPLICATION DEPOSIT - The new apartment that we are trying to get into requires a $300 reserve fee while they work on our application. They have one 3BR apartment in our price range available right now available December 5th, so we need to jump on it ASAP! ((We sent in the $300 reserve fee but were placed on waitlist and it will take a month for the $300 to get mailed back to us. There is another apartment that has one available that requires a $300 deposit + $36 app fee)).
  • TIRE - (~$200) I had a flat tire about a week ago and currently driving on the spare

After this week, we will need some help with:
  • ATTORNEY RETAINER - Attorney will require $_____ (will update with exact amount) to take my case
  • APARTMENT DEPOSIT - The apartment we want will require a deposit of $_____ (will update with exact amount)

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Dear friends,

I hate asking for help this way, but I am desperate.

I have just moved to Midland for my new job; however, due to moving expenses, I am greatly struggling until my first paycheck.

I currently have $38 in my bank account, I am just requesting some help until August 25th.

Here are my current needs listed in order of importance:

  • Food - My daughter and I are currently eating about 1 meal a day. She is expecting in February, so this is doubly important. ($250 for the week ahead)

  • Medication - I need to fill my heart medication ($35).

  • Shelter - Hotel for another week until I am able to find an apartment - approximately $478. In addition, apartments will require deposits to secure leases, and I would like to be able to do that this week. This will likely be around $1000.

  • Transportation - I am currently using Uber to get everywhere (approximately $20-30 a day) due to my car transmission dying two weeks before the move. I actually signed a loan on a car based on my upcoming income but cannot drive it off of the lot without car insurance. All that to say, I either need money for Uber ($175 weekly) or funds to start my insurance premium ($200-300).

  • Finish Moving - When we moved, I was only able to get half of our house to Midland due to getting too small of a truck. I will need to reserve a U-haul and movers at least once more.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
