“I’m so sorry boys, but mummy’s gone now.”

Carly’s Cancer

It wasn’t meant to be this way.  Young families are meant to be spared this kind of anguish.  They are meant to focus on juggling children, kindergarten, shopping, working and nurturing.  Young mums especially are meant to have coffee with the other mums, take their children to play dates, teach them all the fun of a sandpit, making cookies and collecting seashells on a beach.  They’re meant to be able to guide them through the tough times, film the family singing Happy Birthday to You, navigate tricky friendships and be that reliable and comforting face when all else seems against them.  Young mums are meant to have a future surrounded by the ones they love.

That’s what’s meant to happen.

Carly Deverall was diagnosed with cancer in August 2017.  She was married to Beau and the two of them brought the beautiful Jack now (4yo) and Nate (2yo) into the world.  They are two gorgeous kids who are now coming to terms with not having a mum to hug, play with and be cheeky to.

Over the last year, Carly endured all the possible therapies yet still her aggressive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma continued to have its way.  Endless rounds of chemotherapy, trips to hospitals and doctors’ practices, CT scans and an immunotherapy drug trial yielded no joy for the 31yo mother of two.

Beau gave up work when Carly’s cancer was diagnosed.  He was determined to be there for her and the kids.  His emotional rollercoaster was, and continues to be, a nightmare.  Every day comes with anger, anguish, fear, grief, confusion and, every now and then in a quiet moment, why me?  These and other emotions combine to make his plight unbearable at times.  Then, from out of the blue, somehow he finds gratitude, bravery and hope.

There will never be another Carly and now we must look to the future for Beau and his two young boys. We just have one hope.

We hope the generous supporters of Gofundme campaigns will recognise the need for Beau to be with his boys.  This can only be achieved if $250,000 can be raised to purchase them a modest home.  This will enable Beau to provide for the boys, be a loving father and slowly come out from under his burden of grief.

This generosity would be especially appreciated if it could be demonstrated soon as, with every passing hour, the financial burden upon Beau is mounting and causing incredible heartache.

Respectfully,

The close and extended family and friends of Carly, Beau, Jack and Nate.
