Lina, a wonderful midwife in Benin, West Africa, is raising funds to renovate her home clinic to meets the new national standards so she can start having clients again!
Lina is one of those midwives whose energy gives you life and makes you smile inside & out before she even speaks.
She is known for VBACs (vaginal births after cesarean) so having her practice up and running is critical for women to avoid unnecessary and unwanted surgery.
She provides midwifery care for Ouidah and surrounding towns. You can ask any kekenon (local motorbike taxi) to take you to her home, they’ll know exactly who you’re talking about because she was likely a part of a birth in their family.
Lina also works with Wise African Woman Birth Education Retreat where she shares traditional labor, postpartum and fertility care with birth workers from the diaspora.
She hopes to have the funds by the end of the year.
Your financial support will help Lina make the changes needed to comply with new regulations for home clinics such as adding a second entrance to her clinic, tiling the walls and floors of the clinic.
These are medicine pots in Lina's clinic that she and her husband (an herbalist) use to make healing postpartum herbal medicines for women who come to them for care.
