Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church

Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Jinja, Uganda, is urgently asking for your help. Once a mission plant from the Greek Orthodox church in Greece, it now has to take care of itself due to economic struggles in Greece, while ministering to five nearby districts. As the only Orthodox church within a three hour radius, and one of the few in Uganda, it desires to offer a school and other ministries to the local community, but has now come upon hard times. The government surprised the priest with a bill requesting back pay for the last ten years, which the church thought had been paid (This is no surprise here, as legal ownership of land is very complicated and often corrupt). If the bill is not paid by November 24th, the government will requisition the land.

The bill in question is for 3,500 USD, which would take many years for a Ugandan to earn, even if they saved every shilling.  If possible, we would like to raise an extra $500 that will go to the church itself to assist in covering costs for the services as well as building maintenance.

Please consider helping keep this church afloat.

For those of you who know us, we (Rachel McClure and Katerina Kern) both attend this church and can vouch for the legitimacy of the need, Godliness of the priest, and beauty of the church community. We would be heartbroken were we to loose our church!
