Holy Mount Zion Fundraiser

Chanting a psalm goes back to ancient times. When there was trouble, the ancestors would chant a psalm - individually and collectively. This tradition stayed with us through the horrors of slavery, Jim Crow, Civil Rights, today Black Lives Matter - and was also carried into the themes of the Nyabinghi Chant and roots reggae music like “By the Rivers of Babylon” (Melodians), “Jerusalem” (Alpha Blondy), “Satta Massagana” (The Abyssynians) and “Dreamland” (Third World).

In keeping with this tradition, my new single Holy Mount Zion is a type of psalm, a type of chanting against the ‘Babylon system’ - against racial injustice, discrimination, police brutality, murder, violence, hatred, poverty - crying out to the Most High for deliverance, while praying for that place called home, that future Zion of peace and freedom.

I was blessed to work with the genius of the late bassie producer Christopher Meredith on this contemporary reggae riddim (Sugar Minott, Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, Stephen Marley). Also, guest rapper EkwayZion added his skills to help deliver the message.

As a descendant from the lost tribes of Israel via the Igbo tribe of Nigeria, this song has special significance to me and I believe will for countless other lost tribes from around the world.

Holy Mount Zion will be out on all digital platforms on September 22nd.

Goal for the fall fundraiser is to raise $1,500 by September 1st for a 4 Week Single promotion and the budget for the fundraiser will go towards:

Email blast to 20,000 dj’s media outlets worldwide - $375

Social media group posts (10,000 or more followers) - $325

Spotify Playlist submission 50 outlets - $100

Social media ads - $200

Professional Video - $500

Fans will be updated via the GFM app regarding fundraising progress, video filming, behind the scenes, etc.
