Hollybrook Hens Mobile Farm

The story of The Mobile Petting Farm
Hi, my name is Claire, I've lived in the Headley area all my life. After I left secondary school I attended Merrist Wood and obtained a National Diploma in Equine Management. I am now married with a house full of children, chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs.
2 years ago I met Sharon. Sharon has worked with horses and animals all her life, she teaches riding and has spent the last 6 years with her own smallholding.
Both Sharon and I recognise the therapeutic effect of time spent in nature with animals and have a dream to share this with children and adults and allow them to  experience the joy of working with animals and  better appreciate their needs.

This is the story of how The Mobile Petting Farm came to be.

Dream into reality
When we set up The Mobile Petting Farm in March 2020 our vision was to be able to share our love of animals with others by visiting schools and country fairs. We  worked through our numbers, found some land, the concept worked and we were excited to begin work.

Then Covid arrived and we quickly realised that we would not be making any income from The Mobile Petting Farm and that we would have to fund the next few months ourselves.  We are now looking at an extended period of lock down and a continued lack of income.

We make some money selling our lovely fresh eggs but the rest of the cost of food is currently met from our own pockets. All the work on the farm is done by ourselves with volunteers helping us out with some of the bigger jobs (big thanks here to partners and children!) It really is a family affair and we absolutely love it.

How can you help The Mobile Petting Farm?

We would really appreciate donations towards the ongoing cost of food and the occasional vet bills to help us through the next six months until we can operate properly.

To give you an idea of our costs our rescued pals Donk and Pete (donkey & shetland pony) eat their way through about £30 of food a week, they are rather partial to sliced carrots and never say no to a gingernut treat!
The food bill for all the animals is approximately £500/month.

We would be hugely grateful for any donations big or small.
You can donate securely through this link.
All money raised will go directly to the costs of animal food and medical care.

thank you
Claire & Sharon
