Meet the Hollingsworths: Jared, Staci, Erin, Denise (Mom), and Mike (Dad). Recently re-located to South Carolina, the Hollingsworths need a little help. they need help getting together a down payment for a wheelchair accessible van.
Jared has Cerebral Palsy and is wheelchair bound. Getting Jared in and out of the car to get him to work, church, and other activities is exhausting for all parties involved. Jared’s Dad recently had his second heart surgery of the last 4 months and can no longer help with this task. That leaves Staci as the only one in the household who can get him into and out of the car and she was recently diagnosed with MS. As long as Staci is Jared’s only means of transportation, she cannot find work for herself.
This family needs a better way to get themselves around. A van converted to accommodate Jared’s powered wheelchair would do wonders for this family. A van Jared can use will allow his Dad and others to drive him places without needing all the extra lifting. Staci can find the work that she wants and the whole family will benefit from feeling a little more mobile and have the opportunities that come with that.
Jared would be the first to tell you that mobility means the world to people in his situation. It gives him opportunities for better jobs, and more work hours. It gives him the freedom to feel more connected to the world around him.
