Be a Hero - Help our Homeless Veterans & Friends

Donation protected
Down in a tunnel beneath the Vegas Strip, Ken “a.k.a Wheels”, a wheelchair bound, 7th generation Army veteran struggles to survive homelessness in his dark, deadly dystopian underworld.  Most Americans love to say they love the American vets, but few step up to help. Will you be a hero today?

On Wheel’s 4th tour to the Middle East, he was hit by a bomb and lost the use and feeling of his legs. Out of respect for our forgotten heroes, Holy Smoke challenges you, this week, to take your friends and/or family and go out to help someone in need, for at least for an hour or two.  Do it for veterans like Wheels.

We have had the honor of knowing Wheels for over three years, and every time Holy Smoke’s comedians and other misfit volunteers show up in the dark, his silver eyes of a movie star light up the tunnel.

It is not just Wheel’s disability keeping him in the tunnel, it’s society’s hateful attitude towards the homeless. Recently Holy Smoke’s cofounder, Teresa, took Wheels grocery shopping, and she was saddened by the looks of shoppers scouring at this homeless man. Yes, Wheels can make a decision to get himself out, but in my humble opinion Wheels has already paid his debt to you and me, our families, and our country.

Over the past months, we have seen Wheels’ life begin to light up since he was given a puppy, which he named Baby Monkey Weirdo. With the help a local charity, Street Dogz, Holy Smoke was able to get Baby Monkey’s shots and spaded. But one-night while Wheels was asleep, Baby Monkey got loose. Wheels woke up to see her gone. Of course, he cried over losing his fluffy little buddy.

The toughest dude in the tunnel called me to tell of the missing puppy. Turns out Baby Monkey had landed herself in Doggy Jail. So, I picked Wheels up and we headed to the pound.  We were hit by the stereotypical bureaucratic red tape, bullshit. Sorry for the language Mr. Rogers. You are the main man, but Vegas is our neighborhood.

Thanks to Holy Smoke’s work as a nonprofit we, were able to produce pictures of Wheels and Baby Monkey, 501©3 documents plus $60 bucks personal donation, Baby Monkey was reunited with Wheels. If the rest of America loved each other like Wheels and Baby Monkey does, it would be inspiring

Certified Health Coach and Registered Nurse Catherine Ross Butkiewicz donated Holy Smoke’s first hydroponic tower. Holy Smoke’s focus is to grow, cost effective, self sufficient food to feed the homeless, one at a time.  Sure, we would love a miracle and find Wheels and Baby Monkey a home, but for now all we are asking is for you to donate whatever you are able to spare. All of us American’s have suffered since the Covid19 plague, but if we are still blessed to have something to give, then please be a hero and help Wheels, Baby Monkey and all their homeless friends.

May blessed and 2021!
