Hallo, ich bin Jasmin Flowers aus Hirblingen – einem kleinen Dorf in der Nähe von Augsburg. Ich bin zur Hälfte US-Amerikanerin und möchte meinem Bruder helfen, der mit seinem kleinen Sohn in Oklahoma (USA) lebt.

Zur Situation:

Mein Bruder ist alleinerziehender Vater. Unsere Familie – darunter unsere Eltern, meine Schwester und ich – lebt in Deutschland. Sein fünfjähriger Sohn Benjamin hat ein gesundheitliches Krankheitsbild, das behandelt werden sollte. Schon seit einiger Zeit war klar: Die Doppelbelastung aus Vollzeitjob und den besonderen Bedürfnissen seines Sohnes ist kaum zu bewältigen – selbst mit der Hilfe unserer Großmutter vor Ort.

Deshalb haben wir in den letzten Monaten alles vorbereitet, damit die beiden zu uns nach Deutschland ziehen können. Doch nun hat sich alles schlagartig verändert:

Am Samstag, den 27.07.2025, ist Benjamin in einen tiefen See gestürzt.

Er konnte sich nicht über Wasser halten. Als Hilfe eintraf, war es fast zu spät. Vor Ort konnte er nicht wiederbelebt werden. In der Notaufnahme des OU-Ausbildungskrankenhauses kämpften die Ärzte rund drei Stunden um sein Leben. Seitdem wird Benjamin künstlich beatmet. Es wurden bereits zahlreiche medizinische Maßnahmen durchgeführt – darunter MRTs, CTs und mehr.

Die Situation ist kritisch – aber die Hoffnung lebt.

Da das Gesundheitssystem in den USA fast vollständig privat organisiert ist, türmen sich die Behandlungskosten bereits jetzt. Wir hoffen auch auf die Unterstützung der Choctaw Nation, trotzdem stehen wir vor einer riesigen finanziellen Belastung, die wir nicht allein stemmen können. Wir beten, dass Benjamin wieder aufwacht.

My brother is a single father. Our family – including our parents, my sister, and me – lives in Germany. His five-year-old son, Benjamin, has a health condition that requires treatment. It's been clear for some time now:The double burden of a full-time job and his son's special needs is almost impossible to manage – even with the help of our grandmother on site.

That's why we've been preparing everything over the past few months so that the two of them can move to Germany with us. Suddenly everything has changed:

On Saturday, July 27, 2025, Benjamin fell into a deep lake.

He couldn't stay afloat. By the time help arrived, it was almost too late. He couldn't be resuscitated on site. In the emergency room of the OU teaching hospital, doctors fought for his life for about three hours. Since then, Benjamin has been on a ventilator. Numerous medical procedures have already been performed – including MRIs, CT scans, and more.

The situation is critical – but hope lives on.️

Since the healthcare system in the USA is almost entirely private, treatment costs are already piling up. Thought We are expecting some Help by the Choctaw Nation, we are facing a huge financial burden that we cannot handle alone. We pray that Benjamin will wake up again.
