Help Kennedy Film in Cuba ;-)

Hi there ladies and gents!

First of all let me thank you for taking the time to visit this page. I've launched this GoFundMe campaign because I'm in need of some financial assistance to pay for a very unique opportunity that has been offered to me.

Right now I have the chance to join the University of Alabama on a study abroad trip to the University of Havana in Cuba for the spring semester. In case you're not aware, Cuba is a country that requires special permission for Americans to visit; it has been this way for a long time, given our history with the country. I would be scheduled to leave late January and return to the States in May.

This is an amazing opportunity that I'd love to accept, but at the moment I cannot; it all comes down to the total cost of the trip. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to go at the moment; so for the past few weeks I've been reaching out to as many people as I can to try and find some financial aid for this trip, and that venture has been going well so far, but I still have a ways to go before I can afford the trip.

That's why I've made this campaign! I'm here to ask for any donations to make this trip possible! I am not one to just ask people for money though, so in return for your donations, I'd like to offer something to you: I plan to make a film, and use my experience in Cuba as a means of conveying to others the country's current state of affairs. I see this as an opportunity to educate and entertain an American audience that may be unfamiliar with modern-day Cuba. 

As a special thank you I will credit any donors to this cause in the film upon its completion. This will be a film I plan on submitting to film festivals upon my return into the States. I'd love for as many people as possible to share this opportunity with me.

On top of making a film I plan to work with the University of North Alabama's Communications Department to keep everyone posted on Cuban life--via the COM department newsletters, Instagram (add me @k_p_o_p_e_), and other forms of social media.

$5 is the minimum donation I ask for. That may not seem like much in comparison to a $4900 goal, but it has the potential to add up to big numbers. You can also pay more than $5 if you'd like! I would be grateful for any donation.

Should I meet and exceed my $4900 goal, any additional funds I receive will not go to waste; I will use any extra donations toward the film--this can include covering production and distribution costs.
