Hobblin' Hobbs Needs Your Help!

Donation protected

IMPORTANT:  There is a SCAMMER trying to mimic this fundraiser on the GFM site in order to steer donations to her.  She copied and pasted some of the text from my story here and included a photo of a cat who is NOT Hobbs.  PLEASE be aware, this is the REAL fundraiser for Hobblin' Hobbs.  Thank you!

Howdy, all! My name is Meredith and I have a bad habit of finding cats who are grievously injured. This is Hobbs. Hobbs appeared late last night on my front porch. He was eating. His rear left leg was laying on the floor, 90 degrees perpendicular to his body. After steering him toward my rabbit pen, I then saw that his tail had either been cut off or removed by someone or something.

I got him secured until I was able to get him in to see my vet first thing this morning. Xrays and blood work, et al were performed. The list of injuries and ailments is as follows:

1) Broken rear left leg - will require amputation;

2) Severed tail - they can do nothing about this, but there is concern that he has suffered nerve damage that will make him incontinent for the rest of his life (they have cat diapers, so this is not a deal breaker);

3) Fleas - treated;

4) Parasites - treatment has begun with antibiotics today;

5) Hookworm - treatment has begun with dewormer today;

6) Severe Anemia - his red blood cell count was 14. In a healthy cat, it would be 50. He needed blood transfusions ASAP.

The hospital that I go to here where I live does not offer blood transfusions, so they sent me to Blue Pearl Emergency Hospital in Orlando. I brought Hobbs there today, and they have him stabilized. He will have surgery tomorrow to remove his leg.

I have never used GoFundMe to raise funds for the cats I find injured, but this is the most expensive set of injuries on a cat that I have experienced, so here I am. The estimated cost of the amputation surgery, the consultations, all the things that a high tech 24/7 emergency animal hospital provides to an animal in critical condition--well, the estimate is between 8 and 10 thousand dollars. So I am creating this GoFundMe in order to help raise funds from outside my normal circle of cat lover friends (and some non-cat lovers who just happen to like what I do).

If you would like to donate, it will help to defray the costs of Hobbs' surgery and aftercare. I hope you will, and I thank you for taking the time to read his story.
