Hello to everyone that decided to read this story. My name is Sarah and I am writing this story because I believe what I want to tell you matters alot and that it can change a persons life that I care about very much.
Probably most of you will not know the person I am telling you about but I am asking you to do me a favor and read this entire page. I believe that when you finish reading you will realize the power you have to help change my friends life and this my friends, is my attempt at helping all of us, myself included, “get it” and “remember it” once and for all…(for my canadian readers) being a Canadian is a priviledge. Some may never realize the fullness of that statement but let me say this to you....living on the street I live on and the country I am in and learning the realities of the corrupted system I am now very familiar with I hope you slap my face if you hear me complain about Canada for any reason....and if you have a reason its VERY minor in comparison to what other countries are facing, and fighting through each day. WHY AM I TELLING THIS? Here it goes....I will give it my very best shot so you can understand what my friend needs and why she needs it and why this means so much to me.
I have a friend named Esther...I met her almost two years ago and loved her almost instantly. She didnt have much at all, only atiny room she rented that had tin walls and tin roof. Many places inthe world wouldnt consider this place nice enough for a backyard tool shed in Canada, but she was proud of it because it was hers.Esther's life has been rough to say the least...This beautiful woman has one mighty powerful testimony I will share on a video in the near future because I believe someone needs to hear it. Through the years of loss, trauma and emotional pain Esther became became hard....all the crime caught up to her and she spent 10 years in prison. Later on in life Esther was deported to Guatemala and soon lived on the streets for many years selling drugs to survive and drinking to keep warm and numb the pain.. She hated God and did not want to be told by anyone that Jesus loved her....in fact she screamed at God and said dont send me one more pastor to tell me i have purpose or Iam loved..and she took to alcohol hard, but one day a man approached Esther again with a message of love and offered her real help and told her she had a reason to live her life for more. She dared that day to believe it. That day she lifter her head and truly bowed her knee to God and gave Him her heart and said have your way Jesus do what you will and use me in any way you can if its posible. Hope was ignited that day and from that day on things did change, in fact you wouldnt even know she was the same woman. Over the past 7 years Esther has given many hours to countless drunks and alcoholics on the streets...... but right now she ministers in our home at Casa de Alabbanza. I believe in her and the purpose she carries inside of her is a gift. She said to me one day...exactly like this...You now what Sarita, I know I come fromthe trash, I know where I was, but God lifted me out of the garbage and I know He loves me . I know He is living in my heart, and not no one can take that from me. I know that with all my heart Sarita...
A year ago we hired Esther in our home, she gave countless hours to our kids for free and came every day and loved them and I seen her heart to be with them every day.
Esther is now our full time cocinera and cooks all the meals for our staff and children. Right now Esther is really sick and needs our help. She needs a surgery immediately. She has 3 large fibroid tumors inside her uterus that are made of muscle and other tissues. Treatment only becomes necessary when other complications occur. The treatment option needed for Esther is a hysterectomy. The reason why Esthers situation is so serious is because her fibroids are causing extreme uterine bleeding and it is necessary Esther wears a diaper just to contain the issue of blood. Without going into gory details I will say this is very challenging. The blood loss has made her weak and the pain is almost unbearrable most nights. She is becoming anemic and she is losing her strength. In Guatemala there are surgeries you can receive for free and we looked into this for Esther. She went to the hospital that performs these surgeries and they sent her home and told her she needed all these tests to qualify. She went home and has taken test after test and exams and blood work..she has done everything and its costing money for each of these exams she cannot afford to pay. A min wage income here is 200 bucks every two weeks. That s a good job for most..the rest work for way less. All her exams monday were 100 bucks in total. This was just one day not counting the other days. Thats half of her pay and the other goes to rent. This is leaving her broke and in incredible need. We do what we can to help and try to lighten the stress of all this but I know Its possible to do more than pay for some meds...I really want to see this taken care of once and for all. To this day the doctors have not given her even a idea of when her surgery might be..its not good for her to wait much more time..she is losing her quality of life and it doesnt need to be this way. In Canada in cases of emergency we are taken care of and the most we have to complain about is a 2 or three hour wait for free care in a public hospital. Thats nothing compared to this. So here is the deal...In Esthers case, if she has the money she can pay a private doc to do a surgery. There are no questions asked...no countles exams and days of bleeding in bed unable to work.. They get it done. So Esther needs us, she need you, she needs us to lend a hand and help her up on her feet again. We love her and want to help improve her life so she can continue to help others because I know thats what she will do. Lets give together and put a smile on her face this week and help me tell her the war is over and we want to take care of our sister Esther in Guatemala.
