Mother, grandma, daughter, aunt, sister, friend, caterer, manager, baby blanket maker, cook. These are just a few words used to describe Darsey McKinnon. I chose the picture you see here of her because it doesn't just depict her physically, but it captures her very nature. What you can't see is the detail. In this picture she was catering the wedding of a friend; and this was not her first one either. This women selflessly gives her time to people everywhere. She is currently the manager over group homes where she helps care for, teach, and guide people with developmental and physical handicapps.
But early this morning, while she was covering an overnight shift, her whole world was turned upside down. Around 5:30 am, on the morning of Friday, Nov 21, 2014 her apartment building (as well as an entire city block) caught fire. It is believed to have started in a neighboring apartment. She lost everything. On top of that, her vehicle broke down that morning as well. Unfortunately, she also had 2 beloved cats that perished in the fire as well.
I ask you today to please take a moment and pray for her. Please pray that God would restore all that was lost, and give her peace and comfort during this difficult time. Also, if you feel led to help, please consider making a donation to help her get back on her feet. We take many things for granted that she no longer has; a home, a bed, clothing, pots & pans, etc. You can't put a price on things lost such as pictures, and family keepsakes. This will be a long process but with your help, we can take away some of the material hardship so she can focus on restarting her life.
Please consider donating to her Restart fund; every little bit helps.
Thank you & God bless!
